I desperately want to move from Tumblr back to DW, but there's a problem. There's just not a lot of activity here. And I'm struggling to work out how to fix that.

I mean, obviously I would have to contribute more myself. Tumblr was wonderful in the fact that I didn't actually need to engage in any kind of activity, there was already so much there. And despite an increasingly fandom-unfriendly platform it remains the place where fandom seems to live.

But it's rapidly reaching the point where Tumblr aggravates me more than it inspires. It's been coming on a long time, but the lack of my preferred obsessions anywhere else is what's keeping me there. It sure isn't the interface or (apart from a very select few) the company.

It's gonna happen. I might mourn the pretty pictures and hip-shooting fanfic bursts, but unless some really big magical turn-around happens, then Tumblr will have to see me go.

First step: tag-surfing here. I WILL find something new to fill my feed with. I WILL, DAMMIT!

New layout on Dreamwidth. Needed something a little more soothing for my eyes. And for once I haven't bothered trying to customize it. Just slapped it on. I like it, though. It's nice. Calm. Practical.

Probably gonna keep this for a while.

Hmm. I'm really damn tempted to do the 100 Things Challenge. Because I think I have an idea on how to make it a multi-purpose challenge for myself.

See, I have at least 100 WIPs or at the very least plot bunnies lying around. I suspect that if I posted snippets and maybe even shared some of my thought processes behind them, then maybe I'd end up actually finishing some things. And that would be seriously awesome!

What do you guys think? 100 posts about fics that aren't finished? Torture? Teasing? Insanity?

It's tempting, that's for damn sure...

Better post here as well!

I've finally created the [community profile] doctor_tailor community I've been threatening with. Yeah. Go join. You know you wannaaaaaa.

I just realized that my posting of podfics has been a bit of a mess. They could use some headers or something, so I think I'll do some re-posting of all my podfics with appropriate forms this time. Hopefully this will lessen confusion. I might even join a podfic community to get them out there more. With the amount of time and frustration it usually takes to make them, a little more pimping would be excellent.

I'm still pondering making a DW doctor_tailor community. Considering that my passion for Garak/Bashir certainly doesn't seem to lessen any, even in the face of many other shiny fandoms, I think I can safely bet that I wouldn't get bored with it or something anytime soon. I'll look into it in the next few days, probably. If not tonight. We'll see.

Today I finished reading Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. It was a great laugh, but honestly, for once I see the merit of spoiler warnings. So many of the best points were not half as funny because I'd already seen them quoted or depicted in fanart. Bummer. But it's a great book and I don't regret buying it instead of just borrowing it somewhere. But at least now I can safely read the bazillions of SPN/GO crossovers and actually know what's going on.

Speaking of which, I feel like the only person in the world who doesn't seem to be able to merge SPN-Crowley and GO-Crowley. They're two completely different entities, despite their similarities and I blame my shippy heart for this, but it feels kinda like infidelity for Aziraphale to hook up with SPN-Crowley in any form. I dunno. Maybe it's just the high of finishing a book that gets to me. It always does.

Really, LJ. That time of the month, again??

First my post about my latest podfic didn't crosspost due to no connection to LJ. Then all of a sudden I cannot post to [livejournal.com profile] doctor_tailor because apparently LJ has decided that it wants half my posts moderated. I managed to get one little questioning post in before it wouldn't allow me any more because I already have one post queued. *le sigh* If it stays that way I'll have to track down the moderators somehow.

I'm freakishly tempted to start my own doctor_tailor here on DW instead. It's not like I lack invite codes or anything.

There were other things I wanted to post, but I am now truly cranky. Thanks, LJ, you assbutt.

ladydrace: (Do they have a name for what's wrong wit)
And now LJ is fucking up again.

Still not paying.

*gnashing of teeth*

Poop. Some people in easy-to-spot overalls are digging up the parking lot outside with big machines. I don't know what they're doing, but my internet is slow as fuck. *whine* Also, the hot water is off until 5 pm or so. Good thing I showered yesterday.

I should really do something today. Anything. The apartment is a complete mess and I've been promising myself for weeks to clean up just a little. We'll see how it goes. I'm not keeping my hopes up. Weirdly, I'm better at cleaning when Pea is around. Maybe I prefer company for my torture. Or maybe it's just because it's impossible to fangirl with a 2-year old around.

Finally found me some SPN icons, but only on DW. I still refuse to pay for LJ. After all that dickery and more still rolling in, I am NOT throwing money at them! At least that's what I keep telling myself. There are certain paid features I miss horribly. Like the "view in my style" option. Purple letters on green background?? Really?? Who could possibly think that's a good idea for a large chunk of text? *dies*

In other news, I cannot get my printer/scanner to connect. This pisses me off, because I actually managed a piece of fanart that I kinda wanna share. I may have to be inventive and take a picture of it instead. This might mean more editing in photoshop, but I can live with that.

Still watching a shitload of shows.

Merlin is finally coming back to its old glory from the early seasons and the last episode was pure gold. *hugs it.*
Castle is going strong and amuses me greatly. Although the Castle/Beckett tension is really wearing thin. That arc needs to move on somehow. And soon. I don't care which way it goes, but drawing it out to this extent is getting ridiculous.
NCIS is awesome as always. Never change, show.
CSI MIami on the other hand... where did my cheese go? My one-liners? It's becoming woefully generic. You're breaking my heart, people!
Fringe is still confusing as hell, but that's half the charm. And the actors make it impossible to stop watching. Just sayin'.
Criminal Minds. Oh boy. So heavy to watch but so goooooooood.
Sanctuary is a mixed bag. There's the usual half-heartedness in some places, plotholes in others, but the characters remain charming, and as long as they keep bringing back Tesla, I'll keep watching.
And then of course there's Supernatural. It's been years since a show has made me THIS emotional, on all levels. I blame the actors. Those goddamn talented, beautiful fuckers.
ladydrace: (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!)
To the beautiful and awesome [personal profile] taricalmcacil !!

No birthday cards while my PC is down for the count, but here's a fic instead!

ENJOY!

Well. Birthday went fairly quietly. Horrible morning, decent evening. And huge thanks to all the people who sent me all the wonderful birthday greetings and also to [livejournal.com profile] lilyoftheval5  and [livejournal.com profile] shutupeccles  for the lovely v-gifts. :o) *hugs*

Today: Interesting. Another horrible morning followed by a weird afternoon, which involved me getting locked out on my own balcony. My life clearly just sucks. Oh well. At least it didn't happen on my birthday.

In other news, I still have 9 invite codes for Dreamwidth. Up for grabs, people!

ladydrace: (Lock and Load Denny Crane)
I have got invite codes, people! 9 of them!

So if anyone wants their own DW account or even a secondary one, feel free to poke me! First come, first served!
