Fanfic quote of the day

"God..." He opened his eyes, barely aware that he'd shut them, and saw Garak watching his face.

"You're so lovely like this," Garak breathed. "Thank you for allowing me..."

Julian nodded. "I love you," he said.

He didn't know if that's what Garak wanted to tell him, but the words made Garak smile.

General contentment babble.

As a detour from my anxiety and whiny posts, I thought I'd post about something really nice for a change.

I decided to go sit outside this evening, just for a change. Normally I don't like it much, because we don't have our own garden and there are always so may people around, which mix very badly with my anxiety and such. But this early evening the area was completely empty for some reason, so I padded outside in the soft grass barefooted, and had me a good long taste of serenity. Wow, I needed that!

Simply sitting there on a cool, low rock, picking the dew-moist grass with my toes and listening to the birds singing the sun goodnight... it was heaven! I've been so stressed out on several deeper levels today, so the respite from my dark thoughts was bliss. The air was clear, the smell of flowers was fresh and not overpowering, like it gets mid-late summer. Airplanes were drawing white lines way up in the air in the pale blue sky, and it was just so peaceful.

For once it felt like everything was as it should be. Gone were the thoughts of money troubles, depression, worry... in its place remained only a deepfelt sense of serenity and the rightness of everything. How perfectly wonderful it was just sitting there, pregnant with a child made of pure love, not feeling any pain and simply enjoying the moment of stillness - and yet everything was so alive.

I think this will be one of those moments I will remember for years to come, for no other reason than the purity and perfection of it. Next time I need to meditate or something, I think I'll try and bring myself back to that place and feeling.
