Woah, drama!

Well, that's that. Hubby is no longer in The Play. As I think people know by now, both me and hubby have been poorly for the last couple of days and today it went for hubby's throat. Meaning that doing lines, shouting and singing just wouldn't be good today. So understandably, hubby called in sick and settled down with some hot beverages and tissues. A short while later, his brother called, telling him (not asking him) to show up. Reason? They couldn't afford more lost time. And of course, the fact that hubby only cancelled once before this and all the other cancellations were from his brother's side of the bargain was obviously not important.

So, hubby shouted and slammed the phone on his brother, who then proceeded to send their mother to get him anyway. After fuming for a while, hubby decided that enough was enough and handed his mother the script along with the message that his brother could call him when he came to his senses.

He called. Said: "Nice working with you, we'll get a replacement." and that was it.

I can't say honestly that I'm really sorry. It's sad that it had to go this way. I hate to see hostility between family members, but for almost all concerned, I think this is the best thing that could have happened.

I can't blame hubby one bit for how he handled this. I would never ever ask him to disregard his health for anything, and I'm disappointed in his brother for doing just that. *sigh* Maybe hubby would like a few members of his family to sod off too right now? Maybe we could send them all to Siberia...

Y'know, you should indeed be proud of your hubby. There is a certain other actor (whose name I need not say) who refuses to back away from the stage and who shows up there until it's almost too late and his voice is almost gone. He did that twice in the last five years, each time a doctor had to literally DRAG him away and FORCE him to stay at home. He can't grasp the concept of the fact that having a srs cold might lead to even more crap if you continue to show up on stage. He ignores his health all the time just for the sake of being on stage, which really, really worries me like HELL. No one can stop him. That's why I think your hubby is responsible and absolutely right for saying he can't be on stage because he's sick. Very responsible. And very childish of his brother somehow. I also think he handled that well.

Well, his brother is only 19, so he has a lot to learn still. I said to hubby that "he still has a lot of mistakes to make and learn from" to which hubby replied: "Yeah, but does he have to make them all right now?!"

LOL!

I feel bad for your husband. He did the right thing, though. Nothing hurts me worse than when there is strife among me and my family members, but at least things will be going a bit better for you guys at home.

Yeah. He's been feeling very relieved all day, since cooling down. He's a totally different guy now. So it was definitely the right choice. It feels like I finally have my husband back. :oD

I'm sorry it happened like that. Is it mean to say your husband seems to have all the smarts out of the two of them?

Siberia, you say? Have I told you my plans for a certain reality show called Cannibal Island?

[identity profile] lady-drace.livejournal.com 2010-01-24 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
No you haven't, but that sounds really interesting. :oD

When Steff finally gets around to ruling the world I will be her right hand man (since I'm left handed), and Cannibal Island shall be implemented as an Idiot Control Mechanism. It shall be glorious.

It shall. Indeed it shall. *cackle*

Um...what part of "sick" doesn't he understand? Did your hubby at least point out that if she showed up there was a chance of infecting other cast members? Not that I think it would have done any good, just wondering.

I don't think he (rofl at the typo btw) ever mentioned that. The conversation(s) got pretty heated.

I did not even notice that. Fail.

Wow, I don't even know what to say to this. O.O Is you BIL crazy? Well, at least your hubby will be home and there for you and Pea. *hugs*

BIL isn't crazy. Just maybe a liiiiittle too passionate about the art of acting. Plus, he's 19, so he's got a lot to learn yet.

Ah okay, I didn't know he is so young. That certainly explains a few things.
