If I were to write True Blood, it would be Bill/Erik, set in the late 19th century.

Voyager was my first fandom. I was a Paris/Kim shipper. Never wrote in it. The characters are better than the show sometimes. Be warned. But Janeway is my ultimate Trek captain.

Stay with Supernatural this time. It's gets better and better.

I'm with you on Dr. Who. I just can't. Torchwood I like....thank you very much :-))))

1) Well, True Blood is good. Actually is REALLY good in its first two seasons. This one... well, what can I say? I really do not enjoy rape-porn :/
Moonlight is you average vampire show. I like Blood Ties a lot more. Sadly, both of them were canceled :(

2) Eastwick; if you saw the movie, you know what to expect. It was funny until they axed it ~le sigh~ I believe there is a thread, here
The 4400. Really good stuff. Worth your time
And, in this vein? You should check Eureka. Awesome show!
And Warehouse 13, too

3) Voyager... well, it's not my favorite. It has quite a lot of good things, but is not TNG or DS9. At all.
Babylon 5: YES!
Farescape: *points up*

4) House. I really enjoy this show. Really.
BBC Sherlock: waiting until next Saturday, to see all three in a mini-marathon

5) Supernatural. I loved that show, loved it with a passion. Now, I'm really wondering if I will watch Season 6 *sigh*
Heroes: never manage to catch my interest. And I am easy!
Smallville: Love it in its first 3 seasons, but I stop watching at Season 4. People say last season was good, though.

Aaaand... you need to check Dexter. It's dark, and funny, and smart and twisted and a damn good show!

I'll be back if I think of anything else :P

The 4400 is just short enough to get stuck into properly, and I heartily recommend it! If you want a *really* slashy epic, may I recommend Boston Legal? It's 100 episodes chronicling the epic (platonic) love story of Denny Crane and Alan Shore. And everything else in between swings between hilarious and tragic at a moment's notice.

[identity profile] dark-sinestra.livejournal.com 2010-08-03 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I almost gave up on "True Blood" two shows into it because of the atrocious accents. Being from that region, I know what people from there are supposed to sound like, and none of them did to the point of being obnoxiously horrible. Also, the story in the first season is really slow to pick up and go anywhere. Now I'm not sorry I gritted my teeth and bore it. It has gotten more entertaining, but the accents are still nails on a chalkboard. I doubt this will be an issue for you. ;)

I never could make myself get into "Vampire, the Masquerade" even though it aired when I was LARPing the game. That should tell you something. I'm not familiar with the other show you mentioned, though.

"Star Trek: Voyager" was...ok...the first couple of seasons. As someone else put it to me recently, I stopped watching when they brought Barbie of Borg on board. The stories were never that strong to begin with, most of the characters only so-so, and after Barbie, it went downhill fast.

"Babylon 5" is the best sci-fi show I have EVER seen. EVER. EVER!!!! The first season is a little slow as with most shows, but if you stick with it through that, you won't be sorry. The story is gripping and sophisticated, and there's way more going on even in that first season than you realize until later.

"Farscape" is wonderful. I can't say enough good things about it.

"Supernatural" I think would be worth coming back to. "Heroes" and "Smallville" not so much. I like "Smallville" but I feel like it pretty much lost steam around season 4/season 5.

[identity profile] taricalmcacil.livejournal.com 2010-08-03 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Eh...I could take or leave vampires.

2. If you don't mind cartoons, Avatar: The Last Airbender. It's definitely a more intelligent cartoon.

3. Voyager isn't bad. And I like Farscape. I highly recommend Stargate Sg-1. Just don't watch the original version of the first ep, watch the directors cut instead.

4. I was a big House fan for a while (even had some fics going, all of which are incomplete, though my muse twitched on one recently). So I may be able to rec you some good fics from this.

5. I gave up on Smallville too, and never started the others.

Oh, ETA! You should give The Big Bang Theory a go. It's all about geeks doing geeky things, and starting in the third season Wil Wheaton guest stars as an evil jerk.

I doubt I'll be as much into Voy as I am in DS9. But I hear that the femmeslash in particular is epic in Voy, so I want to watch it all. :o)

[identity profile] lady-drace.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
I never got past the first episode of Supernatural, so I suspect I gave up too soon. Watched a few clips the other day, though and they were hilarious.

"I found a liquor store." "What happened?!" "I drank it!" *snicker*

[identity profile] lady-drace.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
I hear both good and bad about True blood, so I think it's time to watch it for myself.

Moonlight is mostly because of the absolutely gorgeous men! HUBBA HUBBA!

Eastwick is cancelled too? Aw man. Why is it that by the time tv-shows get to my country, they're either over or cancelled?! Bah.

Will read up on Eureka and Warehouse 13. Thanks!

I did like the first season of Heroes, but at the start of the second I get really confused at all the new characters. :oS

I worry a bit about Dexter. Not sure I need a show in my life about a homocidal sociopath... *shudder* But if you think it's not too gruesome...?

[identity profile] lady-drace.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. Epic, you say? *totters off to read about it*

[identity profile] lady-drace.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
If you say True Blood is ok apart from the accents, I think I'll enjoy it. :o)

I LARPed Vampire as well, and everybody was talking about the show, but I never managed to find some way of watching it. It never aired in Denmark. :o(

VOY is basically just to complete my tour of the Trek universe. Also, I hear the femmeslash is great! (Must be the Barbie-Borg...)

I never actually watched the first seasons of Smallville, so the episodes from later season confused me a lot... and they also weren't all that great story-wise. But I wanna see the epic Clex slash that everybody is talking about!

[identity profile] lady-drace.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
1. Not usually my thing either, but I hear the slash is good. :oP

2. Just finished watching it! MY GOD, WHAT A FINALE!!! *flail*

3. Stargate annoys me, because frankly, I think the series raped the brilliant concept from the movie. Nice characters and storylines, but GAWD it rubs me the wrong way!

I fear TBBT a lot. Because frankly, the clips I've seen... I'm too dumb to understand the jokes. I'm a nerd, but not in the intellectual way. :o(

[identity profile] lovefan81.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 09:05 am (UTC)(link)
True Blood - I don't get the hype. I tried to watch the pilot but ... it's just not my thing, I guess ...

Star Trek: Voyager - Watch it! I've hated it for so many years but, boy, was I wrong! Janeway is awesome and wait till Seven of Nine joins the crew *sigh* The chemistry between them is amazing!

Supernatural - Don't get that one either. Worse, I couldn't watch an episode without thinking about all the dirty fanfics I've read ;-) I't probably the only fandom I read without ever having watched an entire episode

[identity profile] birggitt.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 09:06 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes! Eastwick was canceled, too. But at least they finished the first season.
Eureka and Warehouse 13 will have an official crossover this month \o/
Dexter is a lot less gruesome than True Blood, that's for sure. It is NOT a comedy, granted, but it is really good, and you'll end worrying about liking a serial killer so much :P
thelibraniniquity: (Brad's Ass Approves)

[personal profile] thelibraniniquity 2010-08-04 09:16 am (UTC)(link)
You do remember Brad, don't you? ;)

Basically, a lot of what you want to try I have on my DVD shelf - I am more than willing to enable :D

[identity profile] dark-sinestra.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 09:38 am (UTC)(link)
Hell, I'll take Clex over Clana any day of the week. Lana annoyed the crap out of me. (Even though Kristin Kreuk is a little cutie. She just couldn't make up for the annoying that was that character.)

[identity profile] lady-drace.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 12:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehe, then I think I'll give Dexter a go. But I might bump him down the list a little. ;o)

[identity profile] lady-drace.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 12:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course I remember Brad! His ass has approved all of my best work!

Something tells me I'm going to need a loooooooooooooong camp-out at your house...

[identity profile] lady-drace.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 12:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, she bothered me too in the episodes I caught.

[identity profile] lady-drace.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehe, yeah. I know what you mean about True Blood. I tried to watch the pilot, but I kinda lost focus half way through. But I'm willing to give it another go.

VOY is a must. It's the only series I haven't watched, or at least tried to in the trek universe. I had to give up on TOS and ENT. But yeah, I do hear a lot about the epic femmeslash that is Voyager. ;o)

Supernatural... well... I guess I could always watch it for the slash. The chemistry between the brothers is certainly epic! I'll end up writing incest yet... *sigh*
thelibraniniquity: (Holmes & Watson)

[personal profile] thelibraniniquity 2010-08-04 12:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I approve of this plan. In the tragic event this does not come to pass, I suggest a whole ton of blank DVDs. You're gonna need 'em :D

You lost interest in Smallville? Be very glad! Just stay with season one and read old fanfic. *nods*

[identity profile] taricalmcacil.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
2. YES THE FINALE! SO EPIC!

3. I have to disagree. The series filled what the movie started a lot more, corrected some of the really bad science, that kind of thing. They're still, however, all about trying stop the mindless worship of false gods. Maybe you just haven't seen the right episodes?

Aw, you shouldn't fear big bang theory for that. I have a bunch of friends who self admittedly suck at science, and they still find it amusing. I think the great thing about it is because if you do get it, you laugh along with Sheldon and Raj and the others, and if you don't get it you laugh along with Penny. Besides, Penny tends to make pop culture references and use sayings that the physicists don't understand, and that's just as funny as the physics jokes. (and if you really want to understand a joke, you could always ask me!)

3. It's possible. Any you can recommend?

Hmmm. Not sure about TBBT. But maybe if I run out of stuff I'll get back to it. :o)

[identity profile] lady-drace.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? Bummer. :o(

Okay, season two is alright, too. But then... it just keeps getting worse and worse. :-/

[identity profile] avoidetc.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely, definitely watch Voyager! Janeway is fantastic. And the Doctor and Seven and .... really hope you like it!
Two other suggestions:
Have you ever watched "Queer as Folk"? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queer_as_Folk_%28UK_TV_series%29
And I have no idea if it is your sort of thing but if you like comics you should try the hilariously funny "From Eroica with Love," about a gay thief who falls in love with a NATO agent. And even though their relationship is never consumated (apart from in fandom of course)it is wonderfully sweet and there are some great stories. I really can't recomend this series enough. The first many volumes have been scanned in and translated by fans here: http://www.mangafox.com/manga/eroica_yori_ai_wo_komete/
Hope you enjoy your alone time :-)

[identity profile] taricalmcacil.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll have to peruse my library to pick out some really good eps. And if I can get you hooked...well, there's some great slash.

[identity profile] prelocandkanar.livejournal.com 2010-08-05 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
I liked Voyager a lot more the second time I watched it through as opposed to when it was on originally. True, it's not DS9, but I think you'll like it. Although it's episodic -- no story arcs, really -- some of the characters do evolve a bit. So, give it a whirl... and let us know your reactions.

Not that you don't already have enough on your list, but what about Battlestar Gallactica? I saw that series (the modern version, not the original) just this past year, and really liked it. It was gritty and riveting and complex. Although I didn't fall for any of the characters, it was completely compelling. Well worth the time to watch it all, and you have to watch it all, in strict order. It's all one big on-going arc; no skipping allowed. (BTW, it's got James Callis, whom people insist on confusing with Siddig. Personally, aside from the accent and the vaguest resemblence, I don't see why. Callis does nothing for me, while Sid remains my heart-throb.)

[identity profile] lady-drace.livejournal.com 2010-08-05 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
I can't watch BSG. I'd like to, but the shaky-camera effect makes me vomit every time. It fucks with my eyes in a really bad way. :o(

I see what you mean about James Callis. I suppose in the right light they could look kinda similar... but that's about it.

[identity profile] mithrel.livejournal.com 2010-08-07 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, you gave up on Dr. Who? Torchwood went in the shitter with the last season, but Dr. Who is good.

Not to fond of House anymore, though I do watch it. Also, Moonlight *FLAILS* ONLY VAMPIRE SHOW I LIKED AND THEY CANCELED IT AFTER ONE SEASON! Um, sorry, might still be a tad annoyed about that. Sherlock is awesome, and you already know how I feel about Supernatural *g*
