So... we rented the infamous movie of the blue-skinned furries and watched it. Well...
--------- SPOILER WARNING ----------
Frankly, I'm unimpressed. After all the hype I kinda expected... well.. more.
There was the expected continuous orgasm of special effects, but either it was created specifically for 3D, or someone should have looked more carefully into the details. Oh, not for the blue-skins themselves. More for the real world around them. Apparently, when you've got that many millions to play with in the special effects department, you tend to get a little blind to the real world. Sad. It was grating on my nerves more or less through the whole movie.
Good stuff:
- Sigourney Weaver. Even her blue body was the hottest. I swear, that lady never loses it. You know, the it that still makes everyone creme themselves over her in Alien. *nods*
- The handicap. I loved the details there. How he used the chair, his shrivelled legs and how he seemed so used to all the moves you need to do as an invalid. Now, if only they could have done the same all through the movie.
- The blue people. Had the movie been 100% animated, I would probably have turned furry on the spot. They certainly are hawt! Even with their weird hair-tail-uplink.
Bad stuff:
-The music. Even though we watched it on our little ol' TV, it still almost blasted our ears off as soon as something important happened. No subtlety. What so ever.
- The plot. The holes could have swallowed the Home Tree whole. *facepalm*
- The clichés. Holy mother of anything... Me and hubby almost made it into a competition of how many events we could predict. It was a LOT!
There's more, but it's late and I should be in bed.
I guess the short version of this is: I like it, but I probably won't be throwing money after one for my own movie collection.
