ladydraceThe theme this week will be some ships of mine that are rare/obscure or just... I dunno... unusual.

ds9_rewatch on LJ, I give you; Jake/Ziyal!
Fandom: Star Trek, Deep Space Nine.
Who?
-Jake Sisko. Young, ambitious and son of a man who is either hated or loved by practically anyone who ever knew him and who has more baggage than most. Jake is a writer with perhaps more passion than sense of realism, but he's got charm by the bucket-loads and feels everything strongly. A very likable character.
Look at 'iiiimmmm. Isn't he just adorable?!
-Tora Ziyal. Also young, but with a horrific story of growing up in a labour camp, starved, beaten and abused, yet coming out on the other side of it all in surprisingly good health and spirit. She also happens to have the most hated man in her part of the galaxy for a father, and despite this she loves him and wants nothing more than for everybody to get along. She is also an artistic soul, creating some beautiful artwork completely disconnected from her dark upbringing.
She is really pretty here and I do so wish this actress could have been playing her all the time. But no. It took 3 different people. Bah.
Why?
-Because they both live on the same space station, they are both of an artistic disposition and frankly, they would look awesomely cute together. Plus, they both have difficult fathers and lost their mothers early. They just have so much in common!
Why not?
- For some strange reason, the writers thought that Ziyal was going to convince the world that the blaringly camp tailor three times her age would suddenly look completely straight if she had a crush on him. (It worked really well. Can you tell?) Also, she and Jake have no screen time together at all. As far as I know, they have a total of one scene where they are even in the same room and they don't even share the screen long enough for a decent screencap. Honestly, it's hard being a shipper. Plus, Ziyal dies in the series, but that bit of canon is easily filed away under "ignore".
See what I mean? This was the best I could do. It's THAT hard!

-Honestly, I couldn't find ANYTHING art-wise, which was what I would have preferred. Even for fic, you will have to look far and because I'm lazy, the only thing you'll get is a super short drabble-thingy I did in comments on my journal for a meme a while back.
