Working title: "4some."
Fandom: SPN.
Pairing: Dean/Castiel/Sam/Gabriel.
Other stuff: God, I hope I finish this at some point.
Word count: 1286 so far.

This happened because I fell in love with Team Free Love! (The foursome pairing of Dan/Cas/Sam/Gabe, for the uninitiated.) And much to my dismay, there's just not enough fic of them. So I set out to write one. No real plot planned. Just wanted some fic of my OT4.

Notes:
This is one of those fics that pretty much grow a plot as I write. So far it's just vaguely post-not-apocalypse getting-together fic. Which is fine in itself, but these things have a way of becoming more plot heavy as I write. So who knows, it might end up becoming more. But if nothing else, I managed to write an adorable opening scene of waking up in bed for the four of them. :o)

Snippet. Or more like a chunk, really. Whatever.

Sam was half awake one Thursday morning when he realized it. When he suddenly noticed that it wasn't weird any more. He couldn't say exactly when the change had happened, but for the first time in longer than he cared to remember he was happy, and nothing felt out of place. It all felt right. Which should be worrying in itself, since he was currently naked and squashed tightly in the middle of a bed between three other people, one of which was his brother.

Gabriel was snoozing, sprawled over Sam's pelvis and stomach, while Castiel was pretending to sleep with his head on Sam's chest. Gabriel seemed to have learned how to at least doze while playing human for all those centuries, but Castiel never even tried. He just closed his eyes and went with it. Not that he would ever complain, seeing as he got to be as close as physically possible to the three most important people in the world to him every night. Sam understood that feeling all too well. In fact, he suspected they all did.

Spooned behind Castiel, Dean was snoring lightly and stroking Cas's chest, with his hand running on automatic. Given how closely Castiel was pressed against Sam, this meant that Dean's knuckles were also stroking Sam's side. Sam was fine with that, since the arm he'd slung over Castiel's head easily extended long enough for him to stroke Dean's hair in return. As if they weren't co-dependent enough before, these days it was like they had to touch each other constantly, endlessly confirming each other's presence, even during sleep. Sam assumed it was at least somewhat to be expected after living through the Apocalypse that almost was. Not to mention the times they've died. Stuff like that changes people.

Not that they were suddenly a well oiled machine. Not even close. In fact, the yelling matches were spectacular. Especially when the subject turned to how they even ended up being alive. Castiel was convinced it was God's will and Dean seemed against that idea just on principle. Gabriel apparently thought that Lucifer had had a change of heart and undone his misdeeds after Sam managed to overcome him, but Sam suspected this carried a great deal of wishful thinking with it, and he usually refrained from offering an opinion at all.

Whatever the case, when Sam had jumped into the cage, there had only been the briefest moments of stunned silence before Castiel was put back together, Gabriel suddenly dumped out of the sky and Sam clawed his way back out of the earth. If they hadn't all been in a state of severe shock, they probably would have laughed. But even now, months later, it still wasn't funny.

Right now, at this moment, there was only lazy contentment, warmth and comfort. Sam would love to stay there forever.

“Me too, kiddo,” Gabriel mumbled from somewhere around Sam's sternum.

“Quit reading my mind,” Sam complained without heat.

Castiel apparently decided that talking meant that it was time to be awake, because he nuzzled Sam's shoulder and added: “You do think very loudly. It's hard to ignore.”

Sam huffed. “Ganging up on me now? No fair.”

He pulled Dean's hair lightly, until there was an annoyed grunt. “What, Sam?”

“Dean, wake up. The angels are double teaming me.”

Dean raised his head and opened one bleary eye. “Unless that means something sexy, I'm going back to sleep. You're a big boy. Fight your own battles.”

Cas turned over and kissed the frown right off Dean's sleepy face. “Perhaps,” he mumbled between kisses, “we could make it sexy?”

Sam smirked at how Dean immediately got more alert. As if the prospect of sex didn't always perk him up in general, the fact that it was actually Castiel suggesting it in his sleepy-raspy voice made it all the more hot. For all of them, in fact. Castiel initiating anything was rare. He wasn't prone to hold back in any way, but he still seemed unsure of when suggestions of intimacy would be well received. But considering they were all naked together with no pressing plans, he probably couldn't go wrong just then.
