Female characters tend not to have as much love in Fandom as males as a whole. It's most likely an outcome that results from a number of factors - I'm not just going to blame it on institutional misogyny, I don't think it's that simple. But I still don't like it. So, why not give the women and girls in your fandom/s a bit of love - Post with some of your favourite fictional females, and tell us why you like them. And pass it on!
Here are a few of my favorites:
Yoko Tsuno

Ever since I opened my first Yoko Tsuno comic book, I was in love with her. She is just so strong, smart and pretty. She's like a superhero with all the things she can do, but still she feels real. She's spiritual, traditional and yet always up to speed with the newest technology. And then of course, she gets to go into space and meet blue skinned people. How awesome is that?!
Elizabeth Bennet

Jane Austen created the character of Elizabeth Bennet almost 300 years ago, but she remains a strong figure, even today! She manages to be beautiful, proper and entertaining, while still being completely her own and not at all the downtrodden type women all too often were back then. She strives to better herself and yet has a light outlook on life and an amazing ability to laugh her way through her troubles. Oh and just for the record, I hated the new Pride and Prejudice movie. The music was great, but the storyline sucked. I prefer BBC's miniseries featuring Jennifer Ehle as Lizzie. (In the picture).
Rogue

The X-men comics have a lot of strong women, but the one that has always fascinated me the most is Rogue. She is just such a tragic figure, that manages to kick butt anyway! Her power of draining life through her skin is as much a curse as a gift. Which is why the love story between her and Gambit becomes even more amazing.

(Others less so, but the fewer women in LOTR, POTC, ST:TOS/NuTrek, etc. are still pretty awesome.)
I suppose I must begin with DS9, because it has my favoritest character from anything ever...Cassidy Yates!
