I'm surprisingly unmoved by this episode. But here are the highlights for me.
- I totally shipped Alvar/Morgana from their first scene together, and my heart broke a little over how much af a cheating bastard he was.
- I love being a slash fangirl when I spend half of an episode angsting over how mean Arthur is, only to have it all made better by him LYING TO HIS FATHER TO PROTECT MERLIN!!! (Oh and, if Arthur doesn't know Merlin is magic yet, I'd wager he's EXTREMELY dim. Why else would he be so pissed at Merlin for not preventing the theft or not knowing the way?)
- I think the dragon is getting cave fever or something. One moment it wants to kill everyone, and the next it wants to keep a few people alive because of some destiny? Oh and there seems to be a little hysterical laughing every time Merlin shows up.
- Arthur thinking Morgana was worried about him. Aaawwwwwwwww. Totally sibling love. Oddly though, I don't find myself shipping it. Am I ill?
- Gaius was awesome this episode. *huggles him*
- Is it just me, or are they making Merlin cry practically every episode right now? I mean, even when he's having himself a nice little smooch he is totally weeping. Maybe Arthur is right... maybe Merlin is a little bit of a girl.
- Uther was deliciously evil this episode. Mwahaha. I love it when he plays up his monster side.
- Morgana disowning Uther. Phew! Intense!
All in all, a pretty damn epic episode, and I blame my emotionally fucked up mind for not really feeling what should have been a rollercoaster of intense moments!

Date: 2009-12-06 11:00 pm (UTC)Now you see, that's awesome! I've had to con my dad into getting me the boxset. And sweet talk some other people into actually getting things on my wishlists as well. Sigh. Family, eh? ;)
But yeah, so with you on convenient amnesia. It'd be like Lois & Clark all over again - even as a kid I was practically throwing my shoes at the tv, I was that pissed off with the recurring amnesia. Back to Merlin though, I do think the magical reveal would be a good place to have the seasonal cliffhanger, purely because of everything they're apparently building up to as well, ie the war, and Morgana/Morgause/Mordred etc., and Arthur needs more of a defence than chain mail wearing cannon fodder. Like Merlin's Glowy Eyes.
