What are all these millions of strange programs installed on my netbook?? Why does the keyboard not type what's on the keys?? AND WHY WILL IT NOT ACCEPT THAT I DO NOT WANT TO CONNECT TO WIRELESS INTERNET!???
Sally... we need to have words. I know you're a netbook, but that's not what I bought you for. Seriously, dear, you can do so much more.

Date: 2010-06-24 04:25 pm (UTC)As for wireless, I know with my laptop I have this little switch on the front that I can flick to tell it not to connect to wireless, but I know that there's an option in the wireless settings to stop it from connecting too. But as tli said, it is pretty much an automatic thing, though if you haven't actually got a router, it shouldn't be able to connect at all.
Pre-installed programs can be annoying, but you can uninstall them if it's something you're absolutely sure you won't need. But if you can't be sure, just leave them. Although, if it means you end up having multiple virus programs or something lie that, it can be a problem because each program can interfere with the others, so that's something you'll want to only have one of. If a few came with the computer, just try each of them and then pick the one you like, and uninstall the others.
Good luck with Sally! :D

Date: 2010-06-24 04:35 pm (UTC)It's not actually connecting anything, but I get these blurps every 10 mins or so, telling me that there are plenty of wireless connections nearby and "would I like to log on one of them? Any one of them? Just for a little bit?!" It gets annoying after a while. But there must be some message settings somewhere. There HAS to be. Or I'll go crazy.
I deleted 15 different trial versions of apparently-best-shit-on-the-market and I can now breathe easier. *sigh*
I knew I should have cashed out the extra buck for a netbook with pre-installed what-I-want on it, instead of the cheap one with all the product whoring.
I think Sally is a bit of a tart...
