ladydraceToday's ship is Carl/Van Helsing.
Fandom: Van Helsing. (The movie and perhaps also the animated film. Not sure what else there is.)
Who?
-Van Helsing. The tortured hero for the Catholic Church (or something), cursed with memory loss and something like never-ending life. In this movie incarnation a dashingly handsome and seriously badass holy warrior.
Makes my mouth water... just a bit. Ok... a lot.
- Carl. Friar with a general disregard for his faith, a brain the size of a cathedral and confidence in his own tech savy about the same size. Also apparently Van Helsings only friend and despite supplying him with horrific weapons and knowing full well what kind of monsters Van Helsing kills, Carl is never afraid to offer his opinion, which is often rude and usually unasked for. (Note: All the dopey hairdos in the world cannot disguise a truly handsome man. Ever.)
Ok, he looks pretty goofy, but even so, I cannot forget that he usually looks somthing like...

Why?
Because I've watched the movie odles of times and I can say with some authority that the only person who makes Van Helsing really happy is Carl. That's love, people! Also, I just have a fetish for the dynamics of the hero/nerd ship. And frankly, I'd give my left arm to anyone who could produce some decent art of these guys kissing. Oh gosh. *shiver* There is also some delicious basis for the ship (like the sequel-ish animated film which features Carl in drag at Van Helsing's prompting!!) and some nice eye-sex here and there. Not forgetting the fact that they stick to each other for most of the movie, so lots of lovely eye-sex and such to be had. *happy sigh*
Why not?
Well, there is the tiny problem of the canon love interest of Van Helsing, but since it is without comparison the worst case of insert-obligatory-female-love-interest-just-because, it is easily (and enthusiastically) ignored. There is also the problem of the main fandom ship, which is Dracula/Van Helsing. I agree that the sexeh vampires are tempting but... It's just not my thing! The fandom is fairly tiny as it is (it's only one movie and change, after all.. *glancing at Inception fandom and its gazillion members*) and the fanworks are not rare, but not exactly overflowing, either. A little artwork is found, but not much in the fic section and sadly, my own only bunny for the fandom so far is withering away in the WIP section. Poo.

Anyway, I'll try and find the Japanese for 'Van Helsing' and check Pixiv.net a lot of the little handmade fan sites are closed down now and I understand Pixiv is sort of a Japanese DeviantArt.
