New week, yet more couch potato-ing.

To celebrate the purchase of a sofa (thank heavens, AT LAST!) I plan on spending a good deal of this week's evenings by lounging on it and watch some movies. I hope to catch up on some of the newer relases, but I started out with a not-so-new movie, which I was none-the-less curious about.
Still on my wave of Austen-frenzy I watched Persuasion (2007).
I read the book years ago and while it's not my favorite Austen book (Pride and Prejudice holds that distinction), it's quite as good a read as her other works. Not as drawn out as some, but neither as lively as others. A good, entertaining read. Sadly, many of the movie remakes of the books have been absolutely horrid, so I started watching without expecting too much.
Good:
I'm pleasantly surprised by how much of the book they managed to squeeze into a movie without making it feel too rushed or confused. I'm also very happy with the casting. Anthony Head was excellent as the snob father and all the other parts were also great choises. Perhaps made even better by the fact that I don't really know them from anything else. The music was also great, which is one thing I'm always moved by. Bad music can ruin even the best movie.
Bad: There were some historical inaccuracies, but I can forgive them most of the time because they did seem to fit the moments. Some parts seemed far more stressed than they did in the book and the shifts between emotional chaos and excruciating dullness felt jarring here and there. But since the book is so compressed to fit the movie format, I suppose it can't be helped.
Final notes:
I want this movie. Oh yes. I need it on my shelf.
Random pic:
The Elliots. Just look at Tony! He really looks like he's got the biggest stick up his butt!
