Empok Nor! Since this is a Garak episode, I'll reserve this whole post for this one. There will be squeeing ahead. You have been warned.

Poor Quark. Noisy bar makes for bad business. Gotta love Nog and his inherited hero worship for O'Brien.
Poor O'Brien. Spending hours to fix the damn thing and it erupts in his face. Life of a chief engineer sucks sometimes.
"Sounds like you should take a Cardassian along..." Can't help it. Just the mention of Garak has me squeeing!
LOL!!! The very first words he says are gold! "He threatened you, didn't he?" "Nothing so coarse. He bribed me!" Aw Garak.
"Lately I've noticed everyone seems to trust me. It's quite unnerving, I'm still trying to get used to it." LOL!
"If it's any consolation, I promise, I will never have you over." "I appreciate that, Chief!" I don't think Garak ever said anything more truthful!
Nice! Bolian with lines! Awesome. I love Bolian.
LOL! Nog looks so small with that enormous gun!
Kotra! Awesome Cardassian game! But damn, he must be bored playing against Nog if he decides to taunt O'Brien instead.
"So when you and Dr. Bashir go into the holosuites for hours at a time... you're just... repairing them?" ROFL! Jealous much Garak???
LOL! O'Brien is such a wonderfully average guy! A wish list of "Must have", "Could use" and "Would be nice"! Priceless!!!
GARAK IN A SPACE SUIT!!! *incoherent babbling and mumbling* One can only take so much awesome before snapping. Also, must be awful really with claustrophobia. And I imagine it must be even worse for Andrew Robinson with both the make-up and the suit to freak him out. Huggles Andy.
Oooooh, spooky Cardassian cryo champer thingies!
"Boq'ta and Garak would-be-nice." Tee hee. I would prefer Garak and Bashir, but hey, you can't have it all, I suppose.
Oh nasty biogenic compound. Wipe it off! Must be bad bad bad!!!
Cardassian mummy. Eeek.
Oh boy... runabout boom. Eeek!
3rd Batallion soldiers... "Death to All." *shiver* And 2 of them up and about? Oooooohhhhh.
Suddenly it's a very good thing that O'Brien used to be a soldier. You'll need to be on your guard. Spooky episode, but damn, I'm plastered to the screen.
(And of course hubby thinks now is a really good time to read all kinds of weird things aloud to me. Every time I get the episode started again, he reads something else. He's right next to me, is it so hard to see I'm doing something else??? I feel like snarling at him: "Leave me alone! I'm having Garak-time over here!!!" BEEEEETH! Come and save me!!!) Finally... he went to bed.
Aw Garak... hand is itchy... that's bad.
"That's the trouble with you humans. You don't know how to appreciate a good mystery." "I love a good mystery. The kind I can read in bed, not the kind that tries to kill you." I'm so sorry, Garak, but I'm with O'Brien on this one...
EEEEEKKK!!! Evil Cardassian sneeking up on Nog!! Or not... heart attack here...
Ooooooohhhhh.... spooky things going on...
Nooo no no no... never EVER separate on the spooky space station. BAD MOVE!!!
Told ya! Pechetti and Stolzoff gone in a flash. Basic violation of horror movies rules of DO NOT's.
Boq'ta has the right idea. No splitting up! But aw... such faith in Garak. Considering how itchy and sweaty he looks, I'm not so sure I would be so reassured, though. And that paranoia isn't too promising either. He's already not sounding like himself. It's scary and exciting at the same time how dangerous he sounds. Amazing job with the voice there, Andy. Much love!
Good luck sneaking up on Garak! :oP Awesome!! Yay for Garak! Although... the pleasure of killing... not so good.
"Both doors were secure!!" "Secure, is such a relative term. Wouldn't you agree?" Ooooh, nice Garak.
Oh Garak, you should have been aware that you were affected! But then again, I guess the drug also affects one's view of reality.
"That's not the face of a tailor. " "I'm not a tailor. Not for the moment, anyway." Oh man. That just sounds so scary. I don't think Garak will have trouble with people trusting him too much, ever again.
LOL! Poor Boq'ta. Getting all nervous because he complained about his sleeves to a man he suddenly knows is so dangerous. I really love Boq'ta. Too bad he's gonna die too. It's in the horror manual as well. Only the regular cast members get to come home. *sigh*
Nooo no no no... don't put down the gun! Poor Boq'ta. Eeek! Garak, no! *wail* You're not yourself!! *shakes him*
Good of O'Brien to consider any other possibility than just Garak being a traitor or a monster. But he's certainly not hesitating to hunt Garak down. Again, I think it's a good thing that he used to be a soldier.
Oh my god, I'm awed over Andrew Robinson's performance as Garak babbles on and loses his mind more and more.
But of course, O'Brien can't outwit Garak. Not yet anyway. He needs to be more ruthless.
"Blood for blood!" Oh so scary!! Poor Nog. He'll never trust Garak again, that's for sure. And it's probably for the best.
Oh ew, Garak. Did you HAVE to hang up the bodies like some grim form of decoration?
OMG that smile of his has reached new heights of evil! Wow... "Naughty naughty"... damn, that screams for an icon!
Hmm... Garak's attack stance is something like Karate. Panther style or something. Interesting.
"Maybe you're not a soldier anymore." "You're right. I'm an engineer!" KABOOM!!! Yay! O'Brien saves the day! And even manages NOT to kill Garak in the process!! Wooo!
Aw Bashir. So confident that Garak couldn't possibly have been himself when he hurt them. Awww.
Garak asking O'Brien to apologize for him. Damn. He must still be feeling poorly if he doesn't even try to poke O'Brien just a little or joke about the whole thing.
O'Brien is surprisingly kind to Garak. So many fanfiction writers make O'Brien hate Garak, but after this episode, I actually think he gained a lot more understanding of Garak's nature. And somehow, even though some of his worst fears about him were confirmed, he seems to have a whole new attitude towards him. At least in private. Awesome.

This whole episode was exhilarating! Amazing! We learn so much both about O'Brien and Garak that this is certainly on my top 10 list (if not top 5) of best Garak episodes!!!

Empok Nor is one of my favourite season five episodes, I was actually freaked out at some parts...probably because the first time I watched it I was by myself in a dark room...but ya know =\

Andrew Robinson's performance in this episode is just amazing, it really shows how talented he is.

Poor Nog =\ This can't have been his favourite mission.

All bow to the amazing Andrew Robinson! And don't worry. This was my second time watching it and I still 'meeped' when Pechetti was suddenly jumped. It is indeed a very spooky episode.

And I think Nog was effeciently cured of some of his 'enthusiastic cadet syndrome' here.

What a beautiful, wonderful episode! I love this one. And yes, I'm aware it's bad that I was sort of hoping for Garak to win...

Also, with, "Garak asking O'Brien to apologize for him. Damn. He must still be feeling poorly if he doesn't even try to poke O'Brien just a little or joke about the whole thing."

With the needless killing of those people, I assumed he feels guilty about it, along with the physical effects.

Yeah, one of the things I think it would have been interesting to see more of was O'Brien interacting with Garak. I like how it did seem they understood each other better after that.

Yeah. I suppose even the best of liars can't be at the top of his game when things are that bad. No matter how ruthless Garak seems sometimes, I have no doubt that he actually has a conscience tucked away somewhere.

Well, now I'm back on business, I'm gonna thoroughly enjoy these reviews :)
Hey, I'm gonna try to read all of those I have saved on my HD.
But oh, god1 this episode! This episode is gold. One of my favorites Garak episodes. Such an amazing performance...
I'm not sure what said of me, but for a moment there? I was wishing it was Garak the winner...
And O'Brian! He was great, too.
And you are so right: this was an awesome study character of both of them :)

Hehe, I never wanted Garak to 'win' as such. Meaning I didn't want him to kill everybody. But I cheered every time he out smarted someone. :oP

LOL!! I'll come save you!! Listen: husbands can be like children. Next time, set him up in another room with some chips and a favorite diversion. You know, a rattle, or a chew-toy, or something shiny. (Just make sure it's not a choking hazard.) Give him a kiss and sneak off. Think of it as practice for handling Little Pea. :D

Great, great ep. But now I just *have* to run off and see it again. Jason the chainsaw maniac meets DS9. And, c'mon. The splitting up and walking backwards. Have these people *never* seen a horror movie??

O'Brien and Garak... that was really interesting. In the beginning, with Garak being all jealous, and at the end. Colm Meany is a fantastic actor. Of course, Andy was amazing here.

I so wish they had used Garak more in these last two seasons. There's so much they could have done. (There's a very intense fanfic with an alternate version of this ep, by the way, where it was Bashir instead of Nog. Do you know it?)

Oh sounds VERY interesting. I'd like to know if you find someone who has a link to said story....

LOL! I'll try that. Maybe I should keep my reviewing at times when he's watching soccer or something. But the shinies might work too. Hehe.

Forgiven Pain of Empok Nor. Oh yeah. One of my favorites. :oD

Empok Nor was definitely one of my fave season five episodes and is definitely on the top ten so far (I say so far cause I still have about 8 or so episodes of Season 6 left and all of 7 to watch). It was definitely a very creepy episode and they did a great job with set design, lighting and SFX. Much kudos to the actors and the crew for a wonderfully spooky episode.

Oh yeah, and despite all the horror movie clichés, it never ever felt out of place! Masterfully done!

OK, here's the fic that's the Bashir-instead-of-Nog version of this ep. I know you know it, LD, 'cause you once used it as your fanfic-quote-of-the-day.
