LOL, nice. I've made these "motivational posters" on Photobucket too. Usually with some terrible inappropriate and not motivating message under them - preferably with a swear word in there - as I hate those darn things! like this one. Though put yours in my office and it would make me happy to be there. :D
They are practically dancing in that scene and Garak is definitely invading Bashir's personal space. And Julian doesn't seem to mind at all despite his Englishness. :D
I did consider making something incredibly naughty, but I just could not decide what! Too many perverted thoughts fought for attention! But I will make more... oh yes, I will.
And yes, that scene is the gayest of gay. Makes ME happy for sure. :oD
Nah, because then I'd have to point out that the G/B vid is on hiatus while I try to excise some other bunnies from my system. But definitely looking forward to anything else you come up with :)
It's even funnier because that is *not* the closest their faces get in that scene. :0) Plus, Bashir looks so exaspherated. I find this scene just hilarious, generally.
This episode (and this scene) is also pivotal on one interesting point: this is the first episode in which you can clearly see that Bashir is taller than Garak. Before this, they would use subtle camera tricks to disguise that fact, but in this episode and after, they never do.
Before this, they'd do stuff like shoot Bashir from slightly above and Garak from slightly below during a lunch conversation, or less subtle stuff like that spectacular chocolate-giving in Improbable Cause, where they have an entire conversation with Garak standing on the raised bit in the doorway, so he towers over Bashir.
It really is amazing how close they allowed them to be before they panicked about the gay hints. *sigh* I swear, the only people who would not love for this to happen were the red-tape people. The writers, the fans, and even the actors would probably have been game.
*Is now lost in daydreaming about what should have been*
Yeah, I hated how, later in the series, they hardly spent any on-screen time together at all, and when they did, they were like strangers. What a waste!
I'm sort of bitter about it. O'Brien has a lot to answer for, stealing Bashir from Garak like that... *glares in the vague direction of O'Brien and the doctor*
>It was my understanding that Alexander Siddig was against portraying them >as gay...
Really? I hadn't heard that. Do you remember where you read it?
I'm pretty sure I remember reading in the DS9 Companion that Robinson mentioned he and Sid joked about it.
The worst thing is, if DS9 were made now, or even just a few years after it was, it might have happened. I used to fantasize on how DS9 might have looked if it were done on HBO...
I remember reading that too. Sid seemed very open to the idea of a 'fling' anyway. Maybe not the gay-romance of the century like we fangirls would like to think, but hey, just a kiss would have sent the world spinning backwards.
I may be wrong about that...I though I had read that on the wiki article and then when I went back and read it again I think it was the fans and not Siddig that was against it.
Wow... their noses are practically touching. They look about a half a second from kissing.
I'd love to see the out-takes from this scene. Sid and Andy must have cracked up a few times, I bet, getting so close and so eye-to-eye. I wouldn't be surprised if they even went in for the mock kiss at one point.
This is great! I love how Garak steps close... then closer... then even closer. You just don't have two people that close to each other in real life, unless...
Of course, this is not real life, and in films and on tv they sometimes have actors stand much closer than natural for a tighter and more dramatic shot.
Anyway, outstanding. I always wondered if the tux irritated Garak's ridges. I think I read that they had to have the shirt specially made.
I highly suspect he made that tux himself, so I don't think it bothers his neck. He is a very gifted tailor after all, and I really doubt he would break into Bashir's holosuite without planning first.
I can just see him now... in his shop, making the tux while plotting about just how much fun he would have intruding on the Doctor's private life again. Mwahaha.
