I better start by admitting that I don't know enough French to really understand the plot, but I didn't exactly watch it for the plot, either. So prepare for perving, drooling and babbling. Yeah.
For about the first half of the movie, nobody speaks a word. Not much use for French skills, anyway. Sid's acting was wonderful but maybe a tad on the boring side. But it was good for the movie. A movie of the artsy, grimy, deep meaning-type, doesn't exactly need fast paced action. Instead we got lots of landscape shots, closeups of Sid (YES, Thank you, GOD!) and... well... porn. I'll get back to that.
And again I find myself wondering if my slash goggles are on too tight, or if there really was a shitload of chemistry between the two leading men. There was eye-sex, nude photography, voyerism, photographing while sleeping, obsession with one's past... I dunno. It smells an awful lot like at least bromance. An artsy fartsy one, but a bromance, no less.
So what I liked about this movie was:
The perfected look of being a million miles away that Sid pulled off brilliantly again and again to the point of wondering if that was all he was gonna do all movie. It wasn't, as caps will show later.
Also, one cannot help but love the gracious nudity of Sid. Mmm.
Smoking!Sid may or may not be a new fetish of mine, slowly overtaking Sid-with-a-gun.
The bromance!
Dislikes:
The porn. I mean really. I've seen soft core pornos with less explicit sex than this. One or two scenes would be ok, I guess, but again and again and again? I started fast-forwarding after the third one without Sid.
ON TO THE PICTURES!!
